Aquí tenéis mi entrada al concurso de Torrent. Es mi primer busto y, aunque nunca me había llamado la atención este formato, he de decir que ha sido un descubrimiento agradable. Eso si, creo que tardaré en volver a pintar algo con tanto pelo, porque claramente esta vez él ha ganado la batalla.
Ahora, aunque me da mucha pena, pasará a formar parte de la vitrina de Iguazzu. Cuidamelo!

Hace poco terminé mi primera figura en 90mm. Es una miniatura que hacía mucho tiempo que pretendía pintar pero nunca sacaba tiempo. Alex Varela (Iguazzu) fué tan amable de regalarmela y con eso ya no podía dejarla aparcada mucho más tiempo.
Aunque la miniatura se me complicó un poco al principio (no es fácil manejar una figura de plomo tan grande) creo que al final ha quedado bastante bonita.

Recently I finished my first 90mm miniature. It’s a model i wanted to paint since some time ago but i never had enought time. Alex varela (Iguazzu) was so kindly to give me as a gift so i couldn’t let it be parked much more time.
Even the miniature was a little complicated at first ( it’s not easy to handel a big plumb model like this) I think at the end it reached a good level.

Esta figura ya la conocéis muchos, pues habéis visto avances de ella aquí o a través de Fecebook. Ahora por fin puedo mostrarla acabada.
Se trata de una figura de 120mm en resina; de la marca Jeff Shiu. Viene muy bien acabada y es ideal para practicar en grandes escalas. El principal reto de esta figura para mi, fue la documentación necesaria para poder dotarla de un correcto rigor histórico. Bastante complicado si no estas acostumbrado!
Por suerte para mi he contado con la inestimable ayuda de Ale Carreto y Samuel Pérez en temas de documentación histórica. Y también con la de Piqui, que me hizo las cajas del terreno.
En definitiva, una figura con la que he sufrido y disfrutado a partes iguales. Si tenéis cualquier duda, preguntad sin miedo!

You know this miniature, as you saw it progress here or through Fecebook. Now I can finally show it finished.
The miniature is a 120mm resin kit; from Jeff Shiu’s brand. It comes very well finished and is ideal to practice for large scales. The main challenge of this figure for me, was the necessary documentation to give it a proper historical accuracy. Quite complicated if you’re not used to!
Luckily for me I had the invaluable help of Ale Carreto and Samuel Perez on issues of historical documentation. And also to Piqui, that made the field boxes.
In short, a figure with whom I have suffered and enjoyed in equal measure. If you have any questions, ask without fear!

Gran busto de young miniaturas que pude pintar para mi propia colección.
Como sabeis no suelo tener la oportunidad de pintar algo para mi mismo, así que cuando lo hago suelo dejar volar un poco mi imaginación de manera qeu esta un poco alejado de lo que es un pintado histórico clásico

As you know i usually do not have the oportunity to paint something for myself, so when i can do it i usually let my imagination fly so it’s a little far away of a classic historical painting

Este año ha sido un Torrent un poco atípico. Atípico por varios motivos.
Entre ellos, la evidente bajada de participación respecto al año anterior. Pocas piezas presentadas, aunque no por ello de menor calidad!
Por otro lado, porque este año mas que ningún otro, los premios eran lo de menos. El objetivo de ir al concurso era otro y creo que se ha conseguido; aunque por el momento no lo sabremos. Los engranajes para nuevos proyectos están en marcha.
Y atípico porque por fin hemos podido celebrar un Best of Fantasy los monos, un premio muy merecido para Arsies y Piqui, por el que han trabajado duramente y que, pese a quien le pese, se lo merecían muy claramente.
Podríamos decir, por último, que también ha sido un poco atípico por determinadas decisiones del jurado… pero lo cierto es que eso el algo natural que ocurre siempre. Nunca las decisiones que se toman gustan a todos y olvidamos la desagradable tarea de que además supone ser juez. De modo que no encuentro este factor significativo.
Respecto a la zona comercial, muy buena. Muchas marcas y tiendas hicieron acto de presencia, con interesantes ofertas y descuentos, ademas de novedades, como las que presentaron Scale 75 o Historic Art o las marcas nuevas que han visto la luz como Origen o Secret Studio.
Pero como siempre, lo mejor de todo es pasar un gran fin de semana entre amigos.

This year has been an atypical Torrent. Atypical for several reasons.
Among them, the obvious lowering of participation over the previous year. Few pieces presented, though no less quality!
Moreover, because this year more than any other, the prizes were not important. The aim of the competition was going to another and I think has been achieved, but for now we will not know. New projects are coming.
And atypical because finally we’re able to celebrate a Best of Fantasy from the monkeys, awell-deserved award for Arsies and Piqui, which have worked hard and that, no matter who gets upset, clearly deserved it.
We could say, finally, it has also been a little atypical for certain decisions of the jury …but the fact is that it’s a natural thing that always happens. Not all decisions are fine for people. So I don’t find this factor significant.
Regarding the commercial area, very good. Many brands and stores were present, with interesting offers and discounts, plus new features like those that showed Scale 75 or Historic Art, or the new brands that have seen the light as Origen or Secret Studio.
But as always, best of all is to spend a great weekend with friends.

Bueno, pues ayer llegamos a casa, cansados pero felices, después de un magnifico fin de semana, como siempre.
En breve, cuando hayamos descansado un poco y podamos organizar el material, iremos subiendo fotos del evento y de nuestras figuras.
Solo un par de comentarios rápidos.
El primero, agradecer el cariño con que tratan a los monos, a toda esa buena gente que siempre nos encontramos en el concurso, personas con las que compartimos grandes momentos de charla y diversión, y que hacen que merezca la pena ir todos los años.
Y lo segundo, hablar un poco de los premios. Los monos nos venimos muy contentos con el resultado, aunque en histórico no conseguimos gustar del todo (somos muy cabezones y el año que viene ahí estaremos dando aun mas el callo).
Contentos, sobre todo, por el bronce obtenido por Fran en histórico, con una escena muy muy entrañable, con mensaje, que gustó mucho. Y contentos, aunque me da un poco de vergüenza, por el Best of Show en fantasía, que tuvimos la suerte de ganar Javi y yo, con la escena “The Getaway“. Para mi es un sueño cumplido. Me alegra muchísimo que la manera de los monos de ver este hobby, guste fuera de la manada. Ahora solo nos queda seguir aprendiendo. Esto es un escalón mas. (eso si, da muchísima alegría subirlo).

Well, yesterday we got home, tired but happy after a wonderful weekend, as always.
In short, when we rested a bit and we can organize the material, will be uploading photos of the event and our figures.
Only a couple of quick comments.
The first, thank the affection with which they treat monkeys, all those good people who always found in the competition, people with whom we share great moments of talk and fun, and make it worthwhile to go every year.
And second, talk a bit about the awards. The monkeys are very pleased with the outcome, although in historical, don’t like our work as much as we would have liked (we are very pigheaded and next year we’ll try again).
Happy, especially for the bronze won by Fran in historical with a very very intimate scene, with message, that liked it. And happy, but I’m a little embarrassed by the Best of Show in fantasy, that we were fortunate to win Javi and I, with the scene “The Getaway“. For me it is a dream come true. I am delighted that the way the monkeys to see this hobby, like out of the pack. Now we can only keep learning. This is one step more. (so yes, give lots of joy upload).
Como se anunció la semana pasada a través de Internet por medio de diferentes páginas web, el conocido escultor Pedro Fernández presenta hoy en el concurso de AMT Torrent su nueva linea de figuras (Origen Art) para la cual he pintado los boxarts de sus dos primeras miniaturas.
Se trata de una figura de 30mm (una elfa) y una figura de 70mm (una sirena). He pintado dos versiones de cada una, aunque la versión B se queda en mi colección personal
Os dejo unos montajes provisionales que he hecho yo a falta de ver el trabajo definitivo de encarte que hagan en Origen.
As was announced past wek on internet by some different web pages, the knowed sculptor Pedro Fernández introduces today in the AMT Torrent contest his own miniatures line (Origen Art) for those I painted his 2 first miniature’s boxarts.
We are talking about a 30mm minaiture (a female elve) and a 70mm miniature (a siren). I painted two different versions of each one, but the B side it’s for my own collection
Here you are some test editions I did specting to see the final work they are doing in Origen.

Como ya anunciamos hace unos días, la manada AL COMPLETO, nos vamos a desplazar a Valencia para participar en el concurso que organiza la Asociación Modelista de Torrent. Mas de 20 obras entre los seis, algunas vistas en otros concursos y otras nuevas, que esperamos que os gusten y que poco a poco, iremos mostrando en el blog (esperamos poder mostraros las primeras figuras el próximo sábado, estad atentos).

As we already announced a few days ago, the entire herd of monkeys, we will move to Valencia to participate in the contest organized by the Association Modelista Torrent. More than 20 figures among the six, some, views in other competitions and other new, we hope you like and bit by bit, we will show in the blog (we hope to show you the first figures on Saturday, stay tuned)

Comienza la temporada de concursos, y parece que los monos ya tenemos claro nuestro calendario. Y el primero es uno de mis concursos favoritos, Torrent. Curiosamente, es el concurso en el que me siento como en casa, puede que sea porque llevamos muchos años asistiendo, pero seguramente sea porque es el concurso donde reencontramos mas amigos a los que llevamos mucho tiempo sin ver.
Si todo va bien, la manada al completo estará asistirá al concurso.
Los monos llevamos un tiempo preparando el concurso. Para ir abriendo boca, os pongo un avance. Un detallito que he esculpido para un figurón que se ha marcado el amigo Javi y que va a sorprender a mas de uno.

The contest season begins, and it looks like the monkeys we clear our calendar. And the first is one of my favorite competitions, Torrent. Curiously it is the contest in which I feel at home, it may be because we have spent many years attending, but it is probably because it is the contest where we see again to more friends which has been long without seeing.
If all goes OK entire herd will assist the contest.
The monkeys we carry some time preparing the contest. I put a step forward. One small detail I sculpted for a great figure who has made the friend Javi and that will surprise more than one.

Este es el último paso del proceso de pintura de “the getaway”. Lo primero que hago una vez terminada la piel y ya teniendo las bases de otros elementos, es trabajar las piezas más grandes, la silla de montar y el faldón de debajo.
El faldón es bastante pequeño, por tanto lo ilumino un poco con carnes y le pinto un freehand sencillo, una simple linea.
La silla la trabajo con punteados, gran parte quedara cubierta por el jinete así que tampoco me preocupo si no es perfecta. Añado un poco de textura y algun scratch.
Después doy definición y textura a las correas, pinto la mochila de un marrón diferente y las cuerdas y el saco de dormir, uso un color que no destaque mucho pero que rompa con los colores utilizados antes.
El jinete es casi todo armadura, para eso la pinto con una base de boltgun de citadel, ilumino con mitrhil (ene ste caso con aerógrafo y fue un error porque el acabado no quedo todo lo real que yo habría querido) y sombreo con aerógrafo con una mezcla de negro y purpura.
Pinto diversos elementos en tonos de purpura y verde y luego trabajo la cara tratando de darle expresión de malo.
Y aquí se me acababa el tiempo y ya no saqué más fotos 
quedaban solamente elementos de complementos como la lanza, las riendas (que las hice con tapa de yogur recortada), el niño que lo pinte a punteados para simular ropa vieja, y centre mucho la luz en la cara pintando los brazos y piernas muy similares al terreno y oscuras para acrecentar la sensación de que se estaba escondiendo, pinte el terreno con grises y marrones y luego utilice efecto agua de dos componentes de 2k.

This is the last step in the step by step of the getaway’s painting. First of all once i had finished the skin and with the bases already painted I worked the biggest elements, the chair and the robe under the chair.
The robe was quite small so i enlighted it with some flesh and I painted a little freehand, a simple line.
I worked on the chair pointing, it will be almost covered by the irder so i didn’t care about if it’s not perfect. I added a little texture and some scratches
After that I added some definition to the belts, I painted the bag in other brown and the sleeping bag. I used a colour differente of the other to broke, but not a intense one.
The rider is almost plenty of armour so i painted the base with boltgun and enlighted with mithril (i used airbrush and it was a mistake because the finish was not as real as i wanted). I aplied shadows with airbrush with a mixture of black and purple
I painted some other stuff in purple and green tones and i worked later on the face. I tried to reach a “bad guy” face.
In that point I was very hurry, deadline was close and i could not take any more pics Just complements like the spear left, belts of the dragons face (that i did with yougurt lid), the kid, that i painted pointing to get old clothes and pointing a lot the light on the face painting arms and legs darker and with a colour so close to terrain, to enforce he’s hidding, I painted the terrain with browns and greys and then I used water effect from 2k
